Three Things to Know When Applying for an Investor Visa

Coming to the United States using an investor visa could be a great way to start your road to the American dream™. There is no one cookie cutter way to apply for an investment visa. However, there are several things to do to increase your chances of success. Here are three of them:

First, hire a competent immigration attorney with a proven track record in getting these visas approved. As with everything in the United States, you get what you pay for when it comes to attorneys. This does not mean that an expensive attorney is guaranteed to get you your visa. However, a competent attorney is one that knows the law and has the contacts with the business community to get you on the right track. A competent attorney would recommend a business adviser that could help you with planning your business. He will also help you get an excellent business plan to increase your chances. You are not only paying for the attorney, you are paying for what they can do for you. At American Dream™Law Office PLLC: Your American Dream™ Law Office, we helped many individuals gain their status through investments, and would be more than happy to help you take the first step.

Second: Know what you can afford to invest. United States immigration laws require a substantial investment that is not marginal. This means that you should not invest everything you have if you will be using what you have to sustain your family. Although there is not a minimal investment for a non-immigrant visa, a rule of thumb that I use is an investment of at least $100,000. This shows the government that you are serious about investing in the United States.

Third: Beware of guarantees!  I simply say that because we get asked so many times if we guarantee visa issuance. I usually tell people who ask that I can not guarantee what the government will do, but I can guarantee that we will do everything possible to increase your chances. In fact, any lawyer that guarantees an outcome is risking is his license.
