Congress Reaches Deal To Avoid Gov’t Shutdown

Law360, Washington (September 28, 2016, 3:25 PM EDT) — Congress pulled together a compromise measure Wednesday that would avoid a government shutdown at the end of the week, after a deal was struck to allow aid for Flint, Michigan’s lead-contaminated water system to proceed in a different bill.

The continuing resolution that passed both chambers of Congress Wednesday would keep the government funded at current levels through Dec. 9 and include funding to fight the spread of the Zika virus, provide aid to flood-ravaged areas in Maryland and Louisiana, and deliver funds for the U.S….
