ESTA and nonimmigrant visa extensions during the coronavirus pandemic

ESTA and nonimmigrant visa extensions during the coronavirus pandemicI am receiving several inquires regarding the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) and other non-immigrant visa extensions. In this post, I will discuss both issues. Call us today for ESTA and other non-immigrant visa extensions during the coronavirus pandemic.

What’s ESTA?

ESTA is a program under which citizens of certain countries can come to the United States without a visa. They are limited to 90 days of entry and must depart before the departure date on their I-94.

ESTA Compared to Other non-immigrant visas:

ESTA stays differ from regular non-immigrant visas in several ways. The obvious one is that they do not have a physical visa on their passport. The other major difference is that an ESTA entrant may not extend their visa in the United States. If they wish to do so, they have to leave the country and reenter.

Another major difference is that an ESTA entrant will not appear before an immigration judge if placed in removal proceedings. Other non-immigrant entrant will be placed in removal proceedings if they overstay. There are some exceptions, which are beyond this post.

What Should I do to Extend My ESTA Stay?

As I mentioned above, we are receiving several calls regarding the possibility of extending their ESTA stay or obtaining a satisfactory departure from Customs and Border Protection. The agency is granting these extensions on an emergency basis. Attorneys were provided with special emails for filing. Hiring an attorney would help in these cases. Call us at [number] if you would like to request an extension.

What Should I do to Extend My Non-Immigrant Visa Stay?

Holders of other visas that require an extension may apply for an extension or a change of status from the United States Citizenship & Immigration Services (USCIS). The forms filed would depend on the basis of the extension. You should call hire us to apply for such extensions.

Please call us at (888) 991-3336 to schedule a consultation. We are waiving consultation fees until April 15, 2020.
