Why People Pursue Global Migration

More People Are Choosing to Live, Work, and Retire Beyond U.S. Borders

Remote work has untethered millions of professionals from a single location. Retirees are discovering that a lower cost of living abroad stretches retirement savings further. High-net-worth individuals are securing second residencies as a hedge against political or economic uncertainty.

Global migration programs — from European Golden Visas to Digital Nomad Visas in Latin America and Southeast Asia — offer a legitimate path to residency, and in some cases, eventual citizenship in a second country.

The challenge is navigating complex foreign immigration rules, tax implications, investment thresholds, and paperwork in a foreign language. We provide legal guidance on the programs that work for your goals and walk you through every step.

Who This Is For

  • Remote workers who want to live abroad legally
  • Retirees seeking a lower cost of living with legal residency
  • Investors interested in residency-by-investment programs
  • U.S. citizens pursuing a second passport or dual citizenship
  • Entrepreneurs wanting a European base of operations
  • Families relocating abroad for lifestyle or education reasons
  • Individuals seeking an exit option from the U.S.

Global Migration Pathways

Three Primary Programs We Advise On

Each program has different eligibility requirements, investment thresholds, and paths to permanent residency or citizenship. We help you choose the right fit.

🥇

Golden Visa Programs

Residency-by-investment programs in countries like Portugal, Spain, and Greece allow you to obtain legal residency — and eventually citizenship — through qualifying real estate or financial investments. Thresholds and eligible investment types vary by country.

Digital Nomad Visas

Over 50 countries now offer visas specifically for remote workers with foreign-source income. These visas typically require proof of income above a minimum threshold and allow stays of 1–2 years, often renewable. No local employer required.

Non-Lucrative Visa

Designed for retirees and individuals with sufficient passive income who want to live in a country without working locally. Spain's Non-Lucrative Visa is one of the most popular options for Americans seeking an EU base.

Frequently Asked Questions

What We Hear Most About Global Migration

This is a critical question requiring advice from both a tax professional and an immigration attorney. U.S. citizens are taxed on worldwide income regardless of where they live. Some countries have tax treaties with the U.S. that may reduce double taxation. We coordinate with tax advisors to make sure your global migration plan doesn't create unintended tax exposure.
An LPR must maintain continuous residence in the U.S. Spending more than 6 months abroad can trigger questions about abandonment, and more than 1 year typically results in a presumption of abandonment. If you're a green card holder considering living abroad long-term, we need to discuss a re-entry permit or other strategy before you leave.
Investment thresholds vary by country and change frequently. Programs that were once popular (like Portugal's real estate Golden Visa) have been modified or restricted. We stay current on available programs and can advise you on which countries still offer viable options at your investment level.
Income requirements vary by country. Most programs require a monthly income of $2,000–$3,500 from a foreign employer or clients. Some countries require higher thresholds for families. We review the specific country's current requirements and help you document your income correctly.
Yes — in many countries. Rules vary significantly by country and are subject to change. We help you understand the full roadmap — from initial residency to permanent residence to potential citizenship — before you commit to a program.
